American Indigenous Business Leaders (AIBL) is stepping in to support student’s academic needs
through its Charity Golf Classic fundraiser, which is in partnership with the tournament’s 2024 presenting sponsor, Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures.
The 2nd AIBL Charity Golf Classic, hosted at the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort in March, welcomed 116 golfers and raised $20,000 to support the Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures Seven Teachings Academic Scholarship. A$20,000 scholarship was awarded to 20-year-old Kameron Dolezal from the Duckwater Shoshone community.
Prairie Blount, Executive Director at AIBL, said: “We found the ideal scholarship recipient through our University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) AIBL Chapter. UNLV offers a fantastic Hospitality Management Program with a strong Indigenous staff that includes Tammi Tiger, the Director of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Tribal Education Initiative with the UNLV College of Hospitality and Danielle Finn, the Director of the UNLV Indian Nations Gaming and Governance Program.” AIBL has been working closely with UNLV this past year, partnering on initiatives such as AIBL’s National Business & Leadership Student Conference, golf scholarship, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Native Youth College Camp.

Kameron starts school in the fall. In his own words, he says, “thank you, Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures for the Seven Teachings Academic Scholarship.
