American Indigenous Business Leaders (AIBL) is stepping in to support students’ academic needs through itsCharity Golf Classic fundraiser, which is in partnership with their tournament’s presenting sponsor,Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation.
The 1st AIBL Charity Golf Classic, hosted at the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort, welcomed 88 golfers and raised$20,000 to support the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation Academic Scholarship. The $20,000 was dividedamong three AIBL students; Aziza Smith, Eastern Shoshone from Haskell Indian Nations, Anisa Pelayo, PaiuteIndian Tribe of Utah from the University of Nevada Las Vegas, and Preston Tom, Navajo Nation from Fort LewisCollege.
Prairie Blount, Executive Director at AIBL, said: “Through the AIBL Charity Golf Classic, we are investing inmore than just education—we are investing in the leadership and futures of Indigenous students. We’rehonored to partner with Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation to uplift young Native leaders who are committedto advancing their communities through business and self-determination.”
Scholarship recipient Aziza Smith says, “I am incredibly grateful for this scholarship from Yuhaaviatam of SanManuel Nation. Your support eases my financial burdens and allows me to fully focus on my studies in BusinessAdministration and preparing for my LSAT.
