Support our students
AIBL’s National Business & Leadership Student Conference is designed to give Indigenous students and professionals access to relevant business information and expertise, offering a variety of activities geared specifically to enhance and expand educational experiences beyond what is taught through traditional academic methods. During the conference, students compete for prizes in business plans, community projects, and elevator pitches, where they are offered leadership roles to gain valuable presentation, organizational, and project management skills and experience.
Partnering with AIBL directly supports students through our Chapters. AIBL Chapters are made up of student groups at high schools, tribal colleges (TCUs), and universities, and are designed to help facilitate the overall goals of AIBL. Chapter members become part of a broad network of Indigenous students and professionals where they can meet new students, make connections, and build relationships.
AIBL’s National Business & Leadership Student Conference partners with the Reservation Economic Summit’s (RES) Conference, a multifaceted event from the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development. Through this partnership, our students gain access to respected tribal leaders, members of Congress, federal agency representatives, state and local elected officials, and top CEOs. Additionally, our students and partners gain access to networking, workshop, and business development opportunities.

don and elaine witmer
After graduating from the University of Montana with an M.B.A in Finance, Don worked for the Montana state legislature as a Fiscal Analyst. In 1987 Don moved to Silicon Valley where he earned his CPA while working for Price-Waterhouse in their emerging business division. He then spent his career in executive positions helping a number of companies grow from their startup phase to their initial public offering.
In San Jose, Don also worked on a number of private and non-profit boards including Life Steps and the Support Network for Battered Women. In 2007, Don and his wife moved to Paso Robles where they live and work on their pistachio orchard.
“Through the generous support of Don and Elaine, many Indigenous students are able to find their place and build a future filled with hope and love. The words “thank you”could never come close to our feelings for the Witmer family.”
